The Heatwave is the collective of DJs, MCs and producers from London and Bristol - Gabriel, Master G, Henry and Rubi Dan - behind the Scandal Bag label. They run a monthly night in London, play out all over the UK and beyond, produce riddims and remixes, compile CDs and mixes and write about the music they love: dancehall reggae, hip hop and more from the UK, the Caribbean and around the world. Rubi Dan |
Hailing from Barbados via South London, Rubi Dan is a versatile MC - though he calls his own distinctive style 'raggipahop', he's as comfortable over garage, drum'n'bass and funky house beats as he is on dancehall and hip hop rhythms. Rubi's vocals appear on the Heatwave's Creezy Hype, Tambouriddim and Ice Cream remixes as well as on the upcoming Piano riddim. Has also worked with the likes of Ray Keith, Raghav, Sidestepper, Jucxi and Grievous Angel aka Paul Meme. Download some of Rubi's recent recordings here.

American ragga jungle wizard who runs the Mashit label out of Boston, MA. His storming jungle version of Billie Jean was remixed for Scandal Bag as Let It Billie, featuring vocals from Jamaican artist Quality Diamond.
